Departure

Posted on 04:58 by Unknown
The day of departure has nearly arrived. I'll be heading off on my bike on Tuesday 6th of february from Petersfield to Portsmouth to take a ferry to Le Havre in France where I will meet Huw somewhere in northern France before cycling to Holland to visit a friend, Nick. From here we will head towards Turkey to gather visas for central Asian counties in either Istanbul or Ankara.

The roughly planned route will take us through Germany, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and finally into Turkey. This section will be covered relatively fast, depending on weather conditions and whether we find the fish biting along the way.

I've written some other pages on this site about past trips which will be completed when time allows. I will post regular updates about the trip here for anyone interested. Feedback will be most welcome, although those who know me well will realise computers won't be top of my priority list while i'm away so responses may be a bit slow in materialising! sorry!

Anyone who fancies coming to join us is more than welcome and for those who aren't too keen to sleep in muddy ditches can come visit us in Goa where we plan to spend a few weeks next christmas resting and recuperating in the sun. And for any fisherman reading i've posted this photo of the rods, reels and some lures I will be taking with. As many touring cyclists complain about head winds I am carrying a flexifoil power kite for a bit of amusment to break the monotony of long windy days!
If everything goes well in the next week i will give everyone an update from the Netherlands.
